FRANKLIN — Officials with the Johnson County prosecutor’s office and the Franklin police department this morning began serving more than 50 arrest warrants aimed at felony drug dealers.

Prosecutor Brad Cooper filed the charges after a yearlong investigation by Franklin police.

The charges include allegations of dealing methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, prescription pills and marijuana, according to a news release from the prosecutor’s office

During the investigation, Cooper negotiated agreements with informants provided by Franklin police in exchange for information that led to the arrest of dealers that were supplying drugs to the Franklin area.

Police officials were able to more than 50 felony cases and turned the results over to Cooper in late October. Cooper reviewed the investigation filed formal charges earlier this month.

Names of those charged will be released after the arrests are made, according to the prosecutor’s office.
