Carmel — Carmel Clay School Board President Andy Klein said the third and last finalist for the superintendent’s job has had to reschedule his interview.

That interview and a public forum had been tentatively set for next week.

“The candidate had an unforeseen circumstance and will not be able to come here before Thanksgiving,” Klein said. “We hope the finalist will be in the week after.”

Klein said he could not name that third finalist. The other two finalists are Jeff Swensson, Carmel assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment, and Valparaiso Schools Superintendent Michael Benway. Each has already had a second interview with the board and met with the public.

Superintendent Barb Underwood announced in May she would retire at the end of December.
