Cold, sterile, self-conscious, trying too hard. The ultra-hipness is boring- hard to swallow on Mass Ave. And the food is just OK. Good miss

Amanda and I went here for lunch today because I remember reading about their $7.95 lunch special. Great. I thought it might be a shee shee kind of restaurant but we got in there and it was comfortable and has great light.
We both got salads garnished with feta, cranberries, a light balsamic vinegar and mandarin oranges. We both added chicken which smacked on another $4. I got a cranberry juice with lime and my meal came to $20.00 with tip. It was good, but not that good.
It’s sort of like the new Scholar’s Inn (SI Lounge). The atmosphere is good but the food is not worth the price.
So, it’s worth going, but pay attention what you’re spending on.

Saturday night I took my friends to FortyFive Degrees for a birthday celebration. After wandering around the front of the restaurant near the hostess station (minus a hostess)for a few minutes, we went to the bar to ask for our booth I had reserved a few days before. The bartender, who was rather smug, said “just sit anywhere”, after telling him we had reservations for a booth, he tiffed, “just sit at any open booth”. After finding our own way to our booth, It took FOREVER to get any drinks, food, sushi, and took a 1/2 hr. for a friend that joined us late to get a menu. Our server was friendly, but extremely slow. Apparently, our server was really a bartender filling in due to a short staff. Even though, I do not fault our server (I give him the benefit of dought, seeming as he is usually a bartender, and only served a handful of times). All of the other employees were extremely rude, and the food was hit and miss. Out of the 3 dishes and 2 sushi orders, only 1 was worth going back for (Godzilla Rolls). I think I speak for all in my party by saying we would not make trip back for any special occasion, maybe to grab a pre-dinner/party martini, that’s about it. Blue Martini is definitely better (both have the same owner I understand).
