Jillian's Hibachi Grill (141 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN)3
I’m an aficionado of hibachi and this did not meet the tastes I was looking for… the entertainment was fine, but the quality of the food wasn’t what I’m familiar with.

Jillian's (141 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN)8
Agree that the food wasn’t awesome, but it was a fun place to hang out. Hung out with friends and danced to the DJ and bowled a few Duckpin games…

Iaria's Italian Restaurant (317 S. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN)7
It’s been a little while since I’ve been to Iaria’s, but I remember the food was great – better than some other Italian places downtown. I felt like it was down-home Italian food like my grandmother used to make – less commercial feeling than some other restaurants and a unique old-time atmosphere.

Houlihan's (111 W. Maryland St., Indianapolis, IN)
I’m not sure why we’ve not been back in a while, but maybe we just burned ourselves out… or now there are just soooo many places we love to eat that we overlook it. I think one of the reasons is the Glendale location closed and that was the one we visited most often…
Used to eat here all the time… we’ll have to go back again soon. I don’t remember the prices being so high, but maybe it was because we always had a zoobook coupon and I’ve not bought the zoobook in the last few years….

Hot Tuna (40 W. Jackson Place, Indianapolis, IN)2
Not sure if it’s offered every Sunday or only on special occasions, I think we went on Mother’s day possibly, but it was an excellent brunch for about $25. Totally superb and worth the price – served with champagne! You had many selections – fresh made to order omlets, pancakes, waffles – about any breakfast food you could think of….

Hoaglin To Go Cafe & Marketplace (448 Massachusetts Ave., Indianapolis, IN)5
Love the curried chicken salad – has to be my favorite. Love how you can mix and match half sandwiches with soup or salad. If I only worked closer and didn’t have to drive and find a parking spot…. nice and refreshing place to go to have something out of the ordinary for lunch.

Hard Rock Cafe (49 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN)7
Hard rock is a staple for all major cities. I always find it fun to find the local Hard Rock for my travels and I am glad that Indy is big enough to have a Hard Rock in town. Great and consistently good food. Fun place to go for a bite with friends after work. Always love to look in their shop.

Greek Islands Restaurant (906 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN)9
Love to walk here for lunch, or drop by for dinner. Of course the flaming cheese is always fun. Love the Avgolemono soup and spanikopita.
Great atmosphere, great service.

Fountain Square Theatre Building Rooftop Garden (1105 Prospect St., Indianapolis, IN)2
We had a great waitress. Loved our food. My friend got the cheese plate and for $10 you could have bought it for a christmas party and served 10 people…. Really a fun experience to dine on the rooftop. I hear they take reservations a year in advance for the fourth of July to view the fireworks – that would be a fun thing to try. Fun to sip wine outside on a warm summer night.

Fogo de Chao (117 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN)11
While most of us could not afford this place on a regular basis, I think it was about $40-50 per person for all you can eat fine meats and a superb buffet (note you could get the buffet only for the vegetarians who have meat loving friends for about $25). My only negative was that it was a little bustling and not as relaxing as you might want for an expensive meal, but it was somewhat entertaining at the same time. Loved the free appetizers and sides they brought to the table to go with the meal, especially the fried bananas. The buffet had an incredible layout with a lot of items that are not seen on a regular salad bar. Large red peppers, artichokes among a few items… there were also a few coldcuts on the salad bar and salmon. Definitely a dining experience with different waiters bringing different cuts of meat around. It was difficult to get the chicken plain and without it being bacon wrapped, but eventually we got some of that, too.
Definitely something to try on a special ocassion or at least one time.

Enzo Pizza (149 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, IN)2
This is one of my favorite pizzas. Love the cheese pizza. So thin and saucey. Also like their pastas and calzones – with extra sauce. YUM.
Used to eat at the location all the time in University Place… now have to go to the one a City Market.
Deelish.

English Ivy's (944 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis, IN)
A couple of friends of ours first introduced us to this place a few years back. Great food and great atmosphere. It was a very enjoyable experience with good friends at the table.
Need to get back there soon… so many good places to eat, so little time.

Elbow Room (605 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN)
The Elbow Room is my favorite place to go when we have tickets to the Murat Theatre. We park there, eat and then walk to the Theatre (on a nice day).
Always consistently good food.

Thai One On (7508 Beechwood Center Road, Avon, IN)6
Per the last reviewer. I’m not sure if they have the Mango Sticky Rice on their regular menu, but that is silly, they know what it is… maybe someone didn’t speak enough English to understand what you were asking for. I had it there for the first time at one of their famous and delicious wine tastings – so again, it may not have been on the day to day menu, but Sam knows what it is.
But I’m so sad to find out today, that TODAY is the last day the restaurant will be open. For those of us not privvy enough to try the California Thai food, this IS the best Thai in Indy… and I just haven’t found a place like it.
It was a 45 minute drive for us to go there since the closing of the Broadripple restaurant and if we lived closer I’d have been there 1x a week.
I’m so sad. Best of luck to Sam in his making of a cookbook. We will miss you.

Einstein Bros. (47 S. Illinois St., Indianapolis, IN)3
Just went to Einstein Bros. downtown a few weeks ago for the first time for lunch… wasn’t really sure what to expect to get at a bagel place, but I was surprised by soooooooo many choices – it was hard to choose! So many things sounded good. I got some yummy chicken n noodle soup and a little bagel pizza – YUM – both were excellent! Also was tempted by a big cookie… also yummy…
will have to go back soon to try something else!

Donatos (825 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN)2
Love the all veggie pizza at Donato’s… long time favorite.
Something about the right mixture of sauce and crust depth makes Donatos one of the best! -
Coaches Tavern (28 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN)
This is a happening little pub just a block from Conseco. I’ve been here a couple of times – my first introduction to the place was through the Friday Lunch Club.
Great food, great service.
-
Chancellor's (850 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN)1
I used to eat hear a lot when I worked across the street. I like Chancellor’s a lot. Good variety of food, good service. Seems they have a nice buffet every now and again – not sure the occassion.
Nice bar for after work drinks.
-
Champps Americana (49 W. Maryland St., Indianapolis, IN)3
Huge servings!! You can eat for 2 days on the portions… love the food. Service has always been good… albeit it’s usually crowded.
My favorite is also the chicken salad which was mentioned above… kind of an Asian flare.
-
Best Taste Chinese Buffet (917 Indiana Ave., Indianapolis, IN)3
I used to eat here quite a bit when I worked in the IU Hospital building… but now I’m not so close… the food has always been good the atmosphere so-so, but it’s inexpensive and fast for a lunch break!!
Always crowded….
